Oneness

by Michael Groetsch

“A poem that reflects an eternal bond between a mother and her child.”

I once shared the Oneness
Warm in Mother’s womb,
So much time in peaceful bliss
Till an August moon,
Pulled me to Mother’s breast
As she said to me,
I’ll always love you more than life
We were meant to be.

I once shared the Oneness
Warm in Mother’s arms,
So much time in peaceful bliss
Away from fear and harm,
She read me bedtime stories
Sang to me at night,
Let me know that I was safe
As she held me tight.

I once shared the Oneness
Warm in Mother’s heart,
So much time in peaceful bliss
She said we’d never part,
When Mom took sick I cared for her
Sang to her at night,
Let her know that she was safe
As I held her tight.

I still share the Oneness
Warm in Mother’s soul,
I still feel the peaceful bliss
That warms me when I’m cold,
She did not leave but waits for me
I know she’ll hold me soon,
As she did against her breast
During that August moon.
