It seems so very long ago
That I was just a child,
I would ride my bike fall and cry
But you always made me smile.
You walked me to the school bus
Waited till it was gone,
Read me bedtime stories
Held me when it stormed.
Our lives are like the seasons
They come and go so fast,
Fall quickly turns to winter
Time never seems to last.
I look into your aging eyes
I hear your fading voice,
Growing old and needing help
Is not within our choice.
The years have passed so quickly
They turned our lives around,
But as you always did for me
I’ll never let you down.
Our lives are like the seasons
They come and go so fast,
Fall quickly turns to winter
Time never seems to last.
It’s like I’ve become your father
And you’ve become my son,
Our roles in life have turned around
Until our lives are done.
Our lives are like the seasons
They come and go so fast,
Fall quickly turns to winter
Time never seems to last.
It seems so very long ago that I was just a child.
